New Game Ideas:

Platform - Flash

What if you were a kid and you go to sleep one night only to find yourself in a "Nightmare Ned" type situation. It's a confusing horror show, think "Nightmare Ned" and the movie "Monkey Bone". But you have to do different jobs as if your dreaming about what you want to be when you get older but in nightmare form. You would need to say be a fire fighter for one round then after you complete whatever tasks you need to do, you move on to lunch lady or astronaut. The main focus is that everything is warped nothing is what it seems and the risks are different then normal jobs.

E.G. The fire fighter job consists of fighting along side walking/talking Dalmatians in fire fighting gear and your not fighting fire your fighting something that looks like a person on fire but its more like fire monsters that run at you or the building and you need to put them put.

The lunch lady job would be you preparing different mixtures of goop and monster brains in certain order on a conveyor belt that moves so you have to be quick as the trays move along out the window. Then after you complete a certain number of trays you have to go out and through the trays at the right distorted figure in the lunch room for points.

Platform - Flash

What if you were a kid in a dream (same scenario as above) and you were walking down a scary remote dark dirt road?
or

Boy Scout scenario

What if you had to make choices as to which paths to take based solely on the information you can visually gather from your surroundings. You don't know what your goal is at first all you know is that you want to take the least scariest path available. That does not mean that it is the safest or going to take you on the golden path to reach your goal.

So you will start out with a health bar and maybe a flash light (think "Nightmare Ned"). You will be looking down a dark dirt road and there will be forks every so often that will split into two or more paths. Along these paths there will also be clues, that you may or may not pick up and add to inventory. These clues will guide you down the correct path leading to your wake up or you may pick them up to help you on your journey. The correct path and action will lead to your waking up, where choosing the wrong path for long enough will lead to your death or restart you back down the road a ways to make the right choices.

The game will slowly reveal which paths are the best to take and also the objective of the game, to wake up.

CONTRACT KILLERS – Game Masters V.2

Objective

The object of the game is to gain levels through completing contracts of “assassinating” other players of the game.

Recruitment

Any player who wants to play, has to fulfill the requirements:
  • Has to be on campus during the weekdays
  • Must have a cellphone with camera capabilities
  • Has to complete correctly and truthfully the form, and be willing to comply with the distribution of the information provided.

Information required:
  • Full name
  • Preferred alias
  • Full class schedule
  • Car make/color if applicable
  • Residence building on campus
  • Allow a picture to be taken

Beginning

Players will be given 300 credits, and will begin at level 1. Players will be informed of how the game operates, and will be given the contact information of the game master, and will be told when the initial round will begin.

Game Round

AT THE BEGINNING OF EVERY ROUND, PLAYERS MUST CONTACT THE GAME MASTER TO “CHECK-IN”. This will allow the game master to add you into the contract list, and for the game master to receive a contract for that round.

Players will be given a contract target, in which they must acquire information about them, and then take a recognizable picture of them, or “assassinating” them, without being assassinated by the assassin that has a contract for them. Once assassinating the target, players then have completed their task, and then assume the contract of their previous target.

If dead, players are allowed to purchase items that will prolong their ability to play. The consolation rounds will be made so that the player can hunt the next player who gets assassinated, yet if the other player also has purchased a “revive”, he may hunt the hunter as well.

Player Created Contracts

Players can create contracts that assign other players the opportunity to kill the contractors target.

Mock Round for player 1

Game begins, player 1 is given player 2 as a target, the time limit for this round is from 11:00am to 7pm. Player 1 purchases a picture and a class schedule of their intended target. Looking through the information on their Facebook profile, they find out that they are a highpoint IT support assistant. Calling IT, Player 1 finds out player 2 comes in for work at 2:00, right after lunch. This information allows player 1 to go to the Slane student center and keep a look out for player 2. There, he meets player 4, but cannot do anything other than interact with this character. At 1:30 he finds his target at Subway, takes a picture of him, and sends it to the game master. After the picture is verified, he is given player 2’s contract; assassinate player 3. After assassinating player 2, he approaches the player, who has recently been informed he’s been assassinated. Assuming a pseudo name, Not Player 1, or perhaps another “username” seen on the scoreboard, player 1 trades gold for information on player 3 with player 2. Player 2 ensures the transactions are complete with the game master, then tells player 2 is supposed to play volleyball in front of Finch hall at 3:30, and that because of work he wasn’t able to find him. Arriving at the scene early, player 1 waits on the chair. To his surprise, he receives a message informing him that he has been assassinated, and that his new contract was player 4, who was assassinated before he was. This is part of the consolation round.

Knowing the identity and schedule of player 4, he runs to player 4’s next activity, which is dinner at the grille. Knowing that player 1 knew this information, player 4, who also purchased a revive and therefore also chasing player 1, decides to escape, and doesn’t show up at the grille, but waits at the entrance, phone ready, and takes a picture of player 1 before he had parked.  By the time he had taken it and sent it the clock showed 7:10, the round was over. The day ended, and players later that night were able to get onto their computers, and check the scoreboards and amounts of points and money they had accumulated for the rounds.

Rules

  • Players must never lie to the game master
  • Players are allowed to trade items, abilities, and gold in order to get updated information
  • Private areas (bathrooms, inside dorm rooms, etc.) are off limits, though the area surrounding is not

Apparatus

Cellphones with clear camera capabilities, as well as ways to send the pictures
Database online to store score and information

Story Mission Ideas

Drops: Give a location where an item is

Idle Targets: Give a location players have to take a picture of

Extra Contracts: make contracts for other players not playing the game

Things to watch out for as Game Master

Keeping a paper layout of actions done that day

Contract Killers

2/1/2012

Getting Started:
  • Me and my group started to brainstorm about an assassin game.
  • We wanted it to be an urban game that takes place wherever you are.
  • We tried to incorporate the use of camera phones as in the urban game Pac Manhattan
  • The game should include a controlling Game Master and a way for the game to take place at any time between anyone that wanted to join.
Foreseen Problems:
  • Must be prolonged over the course of a few days or over weeks with the implementation of rounds.
  • Must incorporate a large number of people and get them to interact with each other.
  • Game Master must be able to handle the large number of participants through his cell phone with text messages.
  • Need a way to verify pictures of people.

First task-

Create the possibility of rotating contracts/consolation rounds.

1 => 2 => 3 => 4 =>5 =>1

When 2 is eliminated, and 4 is eliminated
1 => 3 => 5=> 1

2 <=> 4 (depending on purchases of revive)

In the works:
