2. Plot
In
the land of “Antini” there was a King named “Ajax”. Ajax was the king of
Ragnarok and ruled with a gentle hand. The Gods blessed the King of Ragnarok with
a beautiful daughter named “Marcella” and a treasury full of exotic riches. One
day a horrible dragon named “Deerhurst” raised an army of evil creatures from
around the land of Antini to steal the Kings daughter and all his riches. Ajax
would not stand for this and sent out letters to all the kingdoms stating there
shall be a reward for anyone that can save what Deerhurst had stolen from him.
When Esko Männikkö read this letter on the wall of
his favorite pub he could not turn down the adventure. He quickly gathered his
things and set forth towards the kingdom of Ragnarok. Suddenly accepting a
quest that requires great travel is as easy for Esko as cutting meat is for a
butcher. Esko had no family and through many travels has made few friends. He
knew the path to the forest of Ragnarok very well because when he was in
training at a young age to perfect his magic he would often steal herbs from
local vendors near the kingdom. This knowledge of the route would lead him
through a shortcut and right into trouble.
As Esko knew that taking a shortcut through
Susiluola cave would be a dangerous one but necessary if he wanted to beat the
other contenders who wished to gather the reward. Esko turned the first corner
of the cave he was caught off guard by an old friend. Hannes Hyvönen was his
friends name and after a very brief exchange of greetings Hannes, described his
crisis to Esko. Hannes told Esko about how he was leading a small army to serve
King Ajax as mercenaries during his time of need. On their way into the cave
there seemed to be no end so the army split up to try and find a way out but
was unsuccessful.
Making their way through the cave soon turns hostile
when three Clawskins come from their left and try to end their existence.
Defeating them and venturing forth to find other friendlies, they run into two
more knights that are helping out Hannes. Creeping along the rough terrain, the
group encounter to Hook Ogres which put up a fight. As the ground changes form
and fades to red they run into Hannes beloved daughter, Edda. After a quick
introduction between her and Esko the crowd speeds things up. They come across
a Priest, a Priestess and giant cave dwelling spiders. The Priest and Priestess
help their leader slay the beasts with ease. Hannes is relieved to see some of
his best Footman come into view as the cluster ventured forth. Next the meet
face to ugly face with three Wenches that are powered by the magic of a
Nayslayer. Esko was surprised to see a large group of infantry once he moved
through a rock archway. The group had grown in numbers by now and only a few
good men were still left to find. But first the group must defeat a small group
of zombies and a teenage Dragon that is just learning how to fight. Soon after
the crowd of brave souls must blow through three additional Wenches and their
commander the Nayslayer. Then two familiar faces appear and great Hannes with
troubled news. The group, close to the end of the cave, must fight their way
through. Six Zombies meet them with anger and then the group has to deal with a
powerful beast. His name is Deerharst and he does not want them to make it to
King Ajax.
After a vicious fight with ferocious beasts the
group collects themselves and talks over what to do next. Hannes suggests that
Esko join his fleet and complete the task together. Esko accepts with a smile
on his face knowing that he has a chance to show off his powers for Edda, who
now that Esko has taken notice of since the groups leaving the cave. Esko and
Hannes lead the group into the woods where they expect Deerhurst to be hiding
out. Before long they counter some resistance at what looks to be a gate.
Fighting off some Hook Ogres of a greater level is first on the list of things
though. The next would be to investigate the gate. They inspect the gate and
Hannes and Esko decide its most likely where Deerhurst is hiding so breaking
through the gate is next. The team encounters a couple Nayslayer’s with powers
that scare the team. Next all hope teeters on the edge when they are ambushed
by Nayslayer created Zombies. Upon defeating the evil creatures they advance to
find a small group that also has tried to save the Kings flesh and blood and
his valuables. When the team rescues the trapped victims they offer their
services to help the bunch. Moving further still they encounter what they had
feared and hoped for the most, an Encounter with the infamous beast. Deerhurst
first letting them know his frustration smashes one of his loyal servants and
then approaches the group to makes sure there are intentions are as expected.
Once few words are exchanged, limbs begin to fly. An epic battle encroaches and
the priest and priestess unveil some powers that they had not yet shown to the
group.
The princess is saved and the treasure returned they
all kneel before King Ajax and receive glorious gifts and recognition. And the
story concludes with friends reunited and new friends made. But not before Esko
tries and asks Hannes at a shot with his daughter.

Traits: Esko Männikkö is a dark magician who has took a
different path than his brothers, the Elves. Some say his magic comes from hell
and his spells are demonic in nature, but Esko isn’t telling anyone anytime
soon. He lives for money and jumps at any chance he gets to prove he is the
best at what he does. His psychological state is a bit out of whack due to his
thirst for money and glory but, Esko will be the first to help an old friend.
Esko isn’t very good at leading a team, which is why he prefers to travel
alone.
Back-story:
Esko Männikkö was born to a witch named Brighid and
a warlock named Tyr Männikkö. Both his parents weren’t a part of normal society
and preferred to live in the woods of Ragnarok alone. From birth they wanted
their child to be a great magician by no traditional standard. His parents
taught him his first spells at a very young age and they realized he was
catching on quickly. Instead of ice and water spells, which are what most young
magicians learn throughout their training, Esko was brought up on mostly fire
spells along with dark magic. As a young child, aware he was different; he
frequently came into town to use his magic for trickery. He would often steal
from local vendors and play tricks on the local children. Esko would often get
questioned with why he wasn’t in school with the other children his age and
what were his parents teaching him? But he would often retort with a little
vanishing trick. As he grew older he grew more powerful yet lonely, and he
longed for the companionship of another person. Instead of first finding a good
friend he turned to playing the dark mysterious one in front of traveling women
and because of his height they often thought he was older than he was. Esko
would woo them
with simple tricks of fire and smoke. But when he had had his fun he would be
lonely again. On the day of his twentieth birthday, Esko left his home to
strengthen his powers with teachings from greater Blood Mages
than his parents. He would set out to find his own path and
make his own future. Over the the next couple years he would meet
some interesting people, some of them became friends like Hannes
Hyvönen. Hannes
was a Knight for the King of Ragnarok but quit after his wife died while he was
in battle. One day several years later he finally met someone
that would give him the tools that he needed to strengthen his powers. This
mentor was Pluto Gonzaga, and he would be the one that made Esko the great mage
that he is today. Pluto was Esko’s first real friend but this did not mean
Pluto went easy on Esko. He pushed him to his limits and back again, making
Esko overcome impossible tasks until he could no longer move. Esko grew
stronger by the week and at the age of 28 he had become more powerful than
he had ever thought possible. He wanted the greatest test of all, a duel with
his master. At first Pluto was hesitant but eventually gave in figuring he knew
all Esko’s moves and more. They exchanged blows and defenses, the duel lasted
for hours, so long that it had seemed they were at a stalemate. They decided to
end it in a tie and grab some drinks, but Esko being the trickster he was
decided to turn and throw one last spell at Pluto. The spell rained down fire
upon Pluto and Esko began to worry that his master didn’t see it coming and
maybe he had taken it one step too far. When the smoke cleared he saw his
master virtually unharmed but Pluto was lying on the ground very still. It
seemed that Pluto’s health was not what it used to be and Esko pushed him too
hard too fast. Esko then had to bury his only real master and his only real
friend. Esko left that night leaving Pluto’s lifeless body buried 6 feet under
with a headstone that read, “Here lies a true friend”.

was young his mother died in a fire and he never forgave himself even though
there was really nothing he could do. Ever since that day he has been a
different person. He still loved his family but needed a change. Hannes’ sense
of duty caught up with him at an early age and he joined the Kings military. He
trained hard and moved up that ranks with lightning speed. He fought and helped
win battle after battle. He was inspiration for everyone in the military. This
glory soon attracted the love of a young girl, named Mary, who cooked for the
King. By this point he needed someone in his life to fill the hole that had
been left there so many years ago. They were in love and got married within a
year. After Hannes returned from a battle against a neighboring village, they
decided to have children. A beautiful young girl, named Edda, was born and
there was much rejoicing. She was very energetic growing up, giving all the
boys a run for their money in sports. It wasn’t long before she wanted to
follow in her father’s footsteps and start training. Edda loved archery and
soon found it was her calling, she was going to use this skill to gain entry in
the King’s military. Girls usually weren’t allowed to be in the military, but
since Edda was so exceptional and was the daughter of a great warrior there was
no way King Ajax was going to let her walk away. Eventually Father and daughter
saw action together fighting side by side with Hannes protecting anyone from
getting close to her Edda picked of enemies with pinpoint accuracy. While they
were away, Mary, was working for the King preparing meals for the court.
Everything was going fine until some oil spilt and caused an oil fire. It
wasn’t long before the kitchen staff was trapped in their kitchen, but as hard
as other workers tried to put out the fire it only grew and before long the
entire kitchen staff was burned alive. Upon return, Hannes and Edda got the
news and spent over a month in their house in morning. Hannes, having lost to
very important women in his life, decided that he was going to do everything he
could to keep Edda safe. He made Edda and himself quit the military and live a
life of farming. One day plague came in to town destroying all the crops for
the winter, and with no money to buy food from out of town markets Hannes and
Edda were forced to look for other work. One day Hannes came across a letter
nailed to a tree near the edge of town and read that the Kings daughter had
been taken along with lots of treasure. The part that he really noticed that
part about a reward being given to whoever could return both. He decided that
he and his daughter would gather a group of their old military friends and set
out to find the missing girl and booty.

Environments
and Areas
A.
Cave
Susiluola
The
cave was formed a hundred or so years before Esko was born. It was formed by a
volcano that started dying and drying up leaving it hollow. In the cave there
is basically lava rock everywhere on the floor, which is what the floor is
primarily made of. Some lava rock is more newly formed than other lava rock and
this is where you see the color difference. The cave, because of its short cut
to the woods of Ragnarok, is slightly explored. Some torches have been put up
and some bandits have hidden treasure there, there is even some mining that
took place. But because the cave was always scary and miners stumbled upon some
demons that run between the mine shafts and volcanoes it was ultimately
deserted. That is until Deerharst was posted there to stop anyone from getting
to his brother. Susiluola has many Mushroom trees that grow in the fertile
volcanic soil and thrive on the heat. If you wish to harvest these mushrooms
you better watch out for the holes in the ground where fire shoots up and
engulfs anything in its path. You better also watch out for falling rocks that
often fall due to unsteady ground. Since Deerharst moved in, he decorated the
place with nice cages and spiked enemies to try and scare people from entering.
Another thing he left all over is his eggs. He has laid them all over the cave
to try and produce a liter of his own hellish monsters.
B.
Woods
of Ragnarok
These
woods are home to two monsters, Esko’s parents and Deerhurst. Esko grew up in
these woods and knew them very well which helped in his search for Deerhurst
when he got older. The woods are compromised primarily of living or dead trees
but some ruins of an ancient civilization can still be stumbled upon today. The
trees are separated enough to allow light for grass to grow.
5.
Cinematic
A. The
first Cinematic takes place at the beginning of the game when Esko first enters
the cave and states this looks different. This will be triggered by starting
the game.
B. The
second takes place when Esko meets with Hannes again for the first time in
years. It will be triggered by Esko entering into the area that closely
surrounds Hannes.
C. The
Last will take place after the defeat of Deerhurst, when the King offers his
condolences. This will be triggered by defeating Deerhurst.
